On this release of E.T.O., we’ve included two different releases of ResEdit™. The first, ResEdit 1.2, is a final release, with few known bugs. Yes, ResEdit actually did go final.
ResEdit 1.2 is the APDA release, a final version with few bugs. Use version 1.2 if you are squeemish about using beta software.
The second release, ResEdit 2.0b2, is a beta release, known to have some bugs still lurking within. But this newer release has some new features that you may not be able to live without, once you see them. It adds a new user-interface, new editors (MENU, cicn, BNDL/FREF), new templates, and a new about box.

ABOUT THE PRE-RELEASE VERSION
We recommend the newer version, especially for editing resources in System 7 applications. There are known bugs in ResEdit 2.0b2, so caution should be taken, as always when editing files, and work on backups.
ResEdit 2.0b2 is a stable release, and has been released to developers in the System 7.0 alpha pre-release. It will be made available through APDA later this year.
CAUTION USING THE PRE-RELEASE VERSION
Developers should beware of opening a System 7.0 system file while running System 6.0 or previous systems. To edit a system file, boot with System 7.0 and then run ResEdit.
IN THE FUTURE
Development continues on ResEdit, and new features are being rolled into a 2.1 release, to be completed before the end of the year. If all goes well, we will have a stable alpha version of ResEdit 2.1 on the next E.T.O. disk.
